Schedule for pro forma sessions and Monday, September 29, 2025

The Senate stands adjourned for pro forma sessions only with no business conducted:

 

Monday, September 22nd at 8:30am

Thursday, September 25th at 12:00 noon

 

When the Senate adjourns on Thursday, it will next convene at 3:00pm on Monday, September 29, 2025.

 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Cal. #115, S.2296, National Defense Authorization Act.

 

At approximately 5:30pm, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #425 Michael G. Waltz, of Florida, to be Representative of the United States of America to the Sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations during his tenure of service as Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations.

 

If cloture is invoked on the nomination, upon the use or yielding back of time, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Waltz nomination. Following disposition of the Waltz nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to Calendar #161, S.2806, to provide for automatic continuing appropriations (Johnson).

 

Additional roll call votes are possible during Monday’s session.

  1. Motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #425 Michael G. Waltz, of Florida, to be Representative of the United States of America to the Sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations during his tenure of service as Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations.

 

Monday, September 29th if cloture is invoked, up to 2 hours, then – 2 roll call votes expected:

  1. Confirmation of Executive Calendar #425 Michael G. Waltz, of Florida, to be Representative of the United States of America to the Sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations during his tenure of service as Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations.
  2. Motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to Calendar #161, S.2806, to provide for automatic continuing appropriations (Johnson).
