The Senate stands in recess until 10:00am on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Calendar #115, S. 2296 National Defense Authorization Act.
At approximately 11:00am the Senate will vote on the motion invoke cloture on the 48 nominations included in S.Res.377, en bloc at a 60 vote threshold. If cloture is not invoked, we expect a roll call vote on a Thune motion to reconsider the failed cloture vote.
Senator Thune is then expected to make a point of order that cloture on the nominations en bloc should be at a majority threshold. The Chair will disagree and the Senate will vote on Shall the ruling of the Chair stand? If the Chair is overruled and the threshold is lowered, the Senate is then expected to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nominations en bloc, upon reconsideration.
If cloture is invoked on the nominations en bloc there would be up to 30 hours of debate followed by a roll call vote on confirmation of the nominations en bloc.
Additional votes are possible during Wednesday’s session.
Wednesday, September 17th at approx. 11:00am – 4 roll call votes expected:
