Schumer Statement On Appointment Of Acting DOD Inspector General Glenn Fine To Chair Pandemic Response Accountability Committee

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer today released the following statement regarding the appointment of Department of Defense Acting Inspector General Glenn Fine to chair the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, one of several accountability and transparency mechanisms Democrats built into the CARES Act:

“Democrats built robust, multilayered accountability and transparency mechanisms in the CARES Act to ensure taxpayer funds are properly used to protect workers and the American people. The Pandemic Response Accountability Committee is critical to holding President Trump and his administration accountable to the letter and spirit of the law. Glenn Fine has a good reputation as a tough federal prosecutor and former DOJ Inspector General, and must exercise his full oversight authority to ensure that the Trump administration implements the CARES Act as intended.”
