Leader Schumer Statement On The Latest Inflation Report, Which Shows Higher Prices Caused By Donald Trump And Congressional Republicans’ Failed Policies

New York, N.Y. – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement on the newest inflation report that shows Americans still being squeezed by higher prices thanks to Donald Trump’s failed economic policies.

“Today’s inflation report shows millions of Americans are still struggling under the weight of higher prices because of Donald Trump’s failed policies with only more pain coming. Hiring is down, prices are up, and families are paying thousands more a year because of Donald Trump’s tariffs. And to make things worse Republicans want to double health insurance premiums on millions of families.

“This is just the latest warning sign that Donald Trump continues to squeeze the life out of working people in our economy. Rising costs are pushing working families closer and closer every day to the breaking point.

“The economic squeeze Americans are experiencing will only worsen as Republicans push 20 million Americans closer to the edge of a healthcare cliff. The first step is for Republicans to admit that Donald Trump’s economic experiment has failed and work with Democrats on a way out of the healthcare cost crisis.”
