Leader Schumer Statement On Donald Trump’s Weak 2025 Economic Report Card

New York, N.Y. - Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) released the following statement in response to December’s jobs report:

“Today’s economic numbers for 2025 can be summed up with the one word Donald Trump hates the most—weak.

“Donald Trump promised economic prosperity in his first year and instead has delivered 1.5 million fewer jobs and a weaker economy.

“As Donald Trump is focusing on overseas adventurism, the economic problems here at home continue to pile up. Today, families are facing higher costs, fewer jobs, and less opportunity. Hardly anyone is better off today than a year ago except for Donald Trump’s billionaire buddies.

“Democrats are focused every day on delivering on our promise of a better future for working families. Senate Republicans are focused on rubber stamping Donald Trump’s failures no matter what.”
