Cloture filed on motion to go to conference on S.1177, ESEA; roll call vote expected soon

Senator McConnell laid before the body a House message to accompany S.1177, Every Child Achieves Act of 2015 (ESEA). He then disagreed with the House amendment and agreed to the request to go to conference. He then filed cloture on the compound motion to go to conference.

A roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the compound motion to go to conference could occur around 10:30am today. If cloture is invoked, the question would be on the compound motion to go to conference (either by voice vote or roll call vote). At that point, motions to instruct conferees would be in order, however we are unaware of anyone intending to make a motion to instruct.

After we go to conference on ESEA, we expect to begin consideration of H.R.2577, THUD appropriations.
