EVEN REPUBLICANS ARE GETTING SICK OF SEN. MCCONNELL’S LEGISLATIVE GRAVEYARD

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA):  “We have completed almost 25 percent of the time allotted to this current Congress. And what have we done? Other than nominations, which are important--and I will come back to that--we have done nothing--zero, zilch, nada.” [Floor Remarks, 5/22/19]

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA):  “I am saying we need to do more.  There are issues where our Democratic friends and my Republican friends have more in common than we don't. We need to bring the bills to the floor of the Senate. Everyone has their own list, and everyone in the Senate knows what I am talking about, whether they will say it or not.” [Floor Remarks, 5/22/19]

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA):

TODD:  Do you know what viewers are saying? They’re sitting there going, probably a lot of people going amen but then they’re going right back and like, and I know you're one of 100 and I can explain that to them, but explain why you alone can't do it.

KENNEDY:  Because I can't bring a bill to the floor of the Senate. Only the majority leader can. [MSNBC, 5/22/19]

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA):  “We ought to be less risk-averse. And I don’t think I’m the only one who believes that. I just think I’m just the only one foolish enough to say that.” [Politico, 6/10/19]

Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI):  “Asked how he felt about the pace of legislation in the Senate this year, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) shot back: ‘What legislation?’ ‘So it’s pretty slow, isn’t it?’ he asked.” [The Hill, 5/24/19]

Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Lisa Murkowski (R-AK):  “‘I appreciate the fact that we have to do the personnel side of the business,’ Murkowski said. ‘But as one that wants to get to the policy, I’d like us to be moving on some of these pieces of legislation.’” [Politico, 6/10/19]

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA):  “It is frustrating.” [Politico, 6/10/19]

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO):  “Gardner said he had encouraged McConnell ‘to vote on more things, to have more debates.’" [Politico, 6/10/19]

Republican Senator to Politico: “But that doesn't mean there hasn't been some private and public grousing in the GOP caucus. Of Schumer’s campaign to tag the Senate as the ‘legislative graveyard,’ one senator said, ‘He’s got a point.’” [Politico, 6/10/19]

Republican Senator to CNN: “One Republican senator I talked to said, quote, ‘I'm not sure what our legislative agenda is right now.’ That person also said that they weren't even sure that you could find a member of the United States Senate who could tell you what that agenda is.” [CNN, 5/24/19]
