Schumer Statement On Senate Intelligence Committee’s Report Revealing Russia’s Efforts To Interfere In American Democracy

Washington, D.C.—Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement regarding the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s latest report on the Russia investigation, revealing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s efforts to help elect then-candidate Donald Trump:

“The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's detailed review of Vladimir Putin’s campaign to elect then-candidate Donald Trump reveals damning and illuminating facts about the actions taken by President Trump, his family, and his most senior campaign advisors, and it goes beyond the work of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. It shows how much the Trump campaign relied on hacked Russian information for its own political gain, while courting multiple connections with Moscow’s operatives.

“What's even more concerning is that despite nearly four years of repeated warnings from America’s national security officials, President Trump has failed to protect America’s elections and even opened the door for Vladimir Putin to again attack our country in the same insidious way.”
