Schumer Statement on Net Neutrality

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer released the below statement following news FCC Chairman Ajit Varadaraj Pai seeks to reverse net neutrality law:

“Today, the FCC chairman announced a dramatic step in the wrong direction for the future of the internet with his plans to unravel net neutrality. Chairman Pai’s action will do nothing to invigorate our economy or spark innovation. Instead, it just creates an aggravating experience for consumers and potentially bank-breaking consequences for American start-ups. While big cable may be cheering the FCC on, I am confident that the millions of Americans who weighed in with the FCC in support of the Open Internet order will once again make their voices heard to demonstrate how wrongheaded this approach is. Neither they nor we Democrats in Congress will tolerate the FCC conspiring with industry insiders to roll back critical consumer protections for an open Internet.  We will fight it tooth and nail.”
