Majority Leader Schumer Statement On President Biden Securing Safety Commitments From Leading AI Companies

New York, N.Y. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement on President Biden securing commitments on responsible development from top AI companies. Below is Senator Schumer’s statement:

“AI is moving quickly and the U.S. is leading the way forward. I commend President Biden for his leadership in securing important commitments on the development of AI.

“To maintain our lead, harness the potential, and tackle the challenges of AI effectively requires legislation to build and expand on the actions President Biden is taking today. We will continue working closely with the Biden administration and our bipartisan colleagues to build upon their actions and pass the legislation that’s needed.

“The SAFE Innovation framework will provide the pathway to crafting legislation that will help strengthen and expand the president’s proposal and keep America the leader in AI.”
