Leader Schumer Statement On Donald Trump’s Unhinged Address To The Nation On Iran

New York, N.Y. – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement on President Trump’s address to the nation:

“In a rambling, disjointed speech, an unhinged President failed to justify his disastrous decision to go to war with Iran. Donald Trump’s address to the nation said nothing that can explain the logic of starting a war with Iran with no clear plan and no clear objectives. It was merely a desperate attempt to justify his actions in Iran as Americans pay the price and pay $4 a gallon for gasoline. Instead, he should just end the war immediately.

“While Donald Trump has offered a litany of shifting reasons for starting this war, his two major justifications – from eliminating the Iranian nuclear stockpile to and securing the Strait of Hormuz – yet we are still questioning what has actually been are still not accomplished.

“Americans will look back on Trump’s handling of this wanton war of choice in Iran as one of the worst fiascos in American history.”
