Leader Schumer Statement Announcing Successful Fight Against The GOP’s Poisonous Provider Tax Provision That Would’ve Decimated The American Healthcare System

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement on Senate Democrats’ successful fight in the Byrd bath against Republicans’ atrocious provider tax provision that would have wrecked the American health care system in order to fund tax cuts for billionaires:

“Senate Democrats successfully fought a noxious provision that would’ve decimated America’s healthcare system and hurt millions of Americans. This win saves hundreds of billions of dollars for Americans to get healthcare, rather than funding tax cuts to billionaires.  

“The decision protects health care providers like hospitals and nursing homes, and people with Medicaid for the time being, and though Republicans may now seek other options to fund billionaire tax cuts, Senate Democrats will fight those like hell too.”
