Leader Schumer Statement After Second Judge Blocked Trump’s Illegal Threat To Mail-In Voting

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement after a second federal judge ordered the U.S. Postal Service not to implement President Trump’s executive order limiting voting by mail:

“Trump is trying to hijack the election and poison our democracy. Now, another federal court has beaten back his attacks on mail-in voting — this time in a lawsuit brought by me and other Democrats.

“When a right-wing judge rejects this, you know how out of line Trump’s scheme is.

“The Constitution is crystal clear: Trump cannot steal an election by rewriting the rules to suit himself. The Supreme Court should end this scheme once and for all. In America, presidents don’t get to rig the rules when they’re afraid of the voters.”
