Leader Schumer Slams Trump Administration’s Continued War Against Cheap American Energy As Energy Costs Skyrocket

New York, N.Y. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement after Trump’s Treasury Department released new guidance on wind and solar tax credits:

“Today’s announcement from Treasury is another example of the Trump administration steamrolling the American people at the behest of Big Oil. This new guidance changes the long established rules that companies have come to rely on when building critical energy projects. All this does is create more red tape and uncertainty, which ultimately raises costs for consumers and small business. But Trump and Republicans have made it clear they do not care about the American people, as their “Big, Ugly Betrayal” raised taxes on domestic energy at a time when we need more cheap electricity, not less. As this Republican Rate Hike continues, everyday Americans are feeling the impact of Trump and the Republicans’ reckless energy agenda: manufacturing facilities are closing, people are getting fired, and costs are going up.”
