By The Numbers: Republicans Shy Away From Defending President Trump's Conflict-of-Interest Laden, Dangerous, Inexperienced Swamp Cabinet Nominees

New Data Compiled By Senate Dems Shows Senate Republicans Have Spent Virtually No Time On The Senate Floor Defending Controversial Nominations Republicans Have Responsibility To Their Constituents To Reveal Who Will Be Running The Upper Echelons Of The Government – Deceiving Public By Failing To Defend Nominees On The Floor Is Wrong Schumer: Embarrassed Republicans Trying To Quietly Rubber Stamp Trump’s Swamp Cabinet

Washington, D.C. Democratic Leader Charles E. Schumer today released data revealing that Senate Republicans have avoided

defending President Trump’s cabinet nominations on the Senate floor. In fact, while Senate Democrats have delivered 262 floor

speeches opposing the eight most contentious nominees, Republicans have only come to their defense on the floor 75 times.

Schumer said that by failing to defend these nominees on the floor, Republicans are attempting to conceal the fact that President

Trump’s cabinet choices are riddled with unprecedented conflicts of interest and are unqualified to fill the positions for which they have been tapped.

“Senate Republicans know that these nominees don’t serve the interests of regular Americans,” said Senator Schumer. “They’re

embarrassed of this conflict-of-interest laden and dangerously inexperienced Swamp Cabinet. But rather than challenge

President Trump, Republicans are hoping the public simply won’t notice their jamming through of controversial nominees if

they are silent on the Senate floor. My Republican colleagues should stand behind their votes and be honest with their

constituents – not be a rubber stamp for President Trump’s incompetent nominees. To run and hide is worse than cowardly—

it is a dereliction of duty.”
