IN POLL AFTER POLL, AMERICANS CONTINUE TO OPPOSE THE REPUBLICAN TAX BILL

Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll:  64% Oppose the Republican Tax Bill.  “A strong majority of polled voters oppose the Republican tax bill passed by the Senate earlier this month, a new poll finds. The latest Harvard CAPS-Harris survey found that 64 percent of respondents oppose the bill.” [The Hill, 12/13/17]

Quinnipiac Poll:  55% Disapprove of the Republican Tax Bill.  “American voters disapprove of the pending Republican tax plan 55 - 26 percent, and 43 percent say they are less likely to vote for a U.S. Senator or Congressperson who supports the plan, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.” [Quinnipiac, 12/13/17]

Reuters/Ipsos Poll:  Only 31% Support the Republican Tax Bill.  “In addition to the 49 percent who said they opposed the Republican tax bill, 31 percent said they supported it and 20 percent said they ‘don’t know,’ according to the online opinion poll of 1,499 adults conducted Dec. 3 to 7, with 1,138 adults saying they were aware of the tax legislation.” [Reuters, 12/11/17]

 
AMERICANS KNOW THE REPUBLICAN TAX BILL WILL BENEFIT THE WEALTHY AND CORPORATIONS AT THEIR EXPENSE

Quinnipiac Poll:  65% Say the Wealthy Will Benefit Most. “The wealthy will benefit most from the tax plan, 65 percent of voters say. The middle class will benefit most, 21 percent say, and 4 percent say low-income people will benefit most.” [Quinnipiac, 12/13/17]

Marist Poll:  60% Think the Republican Tax Bill Will Help the Wealthy the Most.  “Six in ten Americans (60%) also think the tax bill will mostly help the wealthy. More than one in five (21%) say it will aid the middle class, and 4% believe it will mostly assist the poor.” [Marist, 12/12/17]

Reuters/Ipsos Poll:  More Than Half Believe the Wealthy and Large Corporations Will Benefit the Most.  “When asked who stands to benefit most from the Republican plan, more than half of American adults surveyed selected either the wealthy or large U.S. corporations. Twelve percent chose ‘all Americans,’ 8 percent picked the middle class and 2 percent chose lower-income Americans.” [Reuters, 12/11/17]

Marist Poll:  52% Believe the Republican Tax Bill Will Mostly Hurt Their Personal Finances.  “The tax reform bill is highly unpopular among the American people. In fact, a majority of U.S. residents (52%), including more than one in five Republicans (22%) and one in five Trump supporters (20%), think the legislation will mostly hurt their personal family finances.” [Marist, 12/12/17]

Quinnipiac Poll:  Only 16% Believe the Tax Plan Will Reduce Their Taxes.  “Only 16 percent of American voters say the tax plan will reduce their taxes, while 44 percent say it will increase their taxes and 30 percent say the tax plan will have little impact.” [Quinnipiac, 12/13/17]


AMERICANS DISAPPROVE OF THE REPUBLICANS’ APPROACH TO TAXES

Marist Poll:  63% Disapprove of Congressional Republicans’ Approach to Taxes.  “63% of U.S. residents, up from 57% in November, say they disapprove of the congressional GOP’s approach. 25%, down from 31% previously, approve, and 12% are unsure.” [Marist, 12/12/17]
