Schedule for Thursday, January 8, 2026

The Senate stands in recess until 10:00am on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of Morning Business with Senators permitted to speak therein for up to ten minutes each.

 

It will be in order for Senator Kaine or his designee to make a motion to discharge the Foreign Relations Committee of S.J.Res.98, A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Venezuela that have not been authorized by Congress. If made, the Senate will vote on the motion to discharge at approximately 11:00am.

 

Following the roll call vote on the motion to discharge, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of Executive Calendar #574 Alexander C. Van Hook, of Louisiana, to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana.  At approximately 1:45pm the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Van Hook nomination.
