The Senate stands in recess until 10:00am on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #847, Barbara A. Leaf, of Virginia, to be an Assistant Secretary of State (Near Eastern Affairs).

 

At approximately 11:45am, the Senate will vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #798, Jennifer Louise Rochon, of New York, to be US District Judge for the Southern District of New York. Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Leaf nomination.

 

Following the Leaf cloture vote, the Senate will recess until 2:00pm to allow for the Democratic caucus meeting.

 

If cloture is invoked on the Leaf nomination, at approximately 2:45pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Leaf nomination. Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #687 Elizabeth Schoff Watson, of Maryland, to be an Assistant Secretary of Labor.

 

If cloture is invoked on the Watson nomination, at approximately 6:00pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Watson nomination. Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Thompson, Sykes, and Loman nominations.

 

During Tuesday’s session, Senator Schumer filed cloture on the following items:

1. Calendar #368, H.R. 7691, a bill to provide aid to Ukraine.

2. Motion to proceed to Calendar #344, S.4008, Small Business COVID Relief Act of 2022.

3. Executive Calendar #855, Stephanie Dawkins Davis, of Michigan, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

These motions will ripen on Thursday.

 

As a result of cloture being filed on H.R.7691, the filing deadline for first degree amendments to the bill is 1:00pm on Wednesday. The second degree amendment filing deadline is one hour prior to the cloture vote if cloture is invoked. During Tuesday’s session, Senator Schumer filled the amendment tree with technical/date change amendments.
