Cloture filed on MTP to S.2311 and Stras nomination (8th circuit)

Senator McConnell moved to proceed to Calendar #294, S.2311 (Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act) and filed cloture on the motion.
McConnell then moved to proceed to Executive Calendar #622, David Ryan Stras, of Minnesota, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Eighth Circuit, and filed cloture on the nomination.
By the book, tomorrow will be the intervening day and cloture will ripen one hour after the Senate convenes on the next legislative day (expected Monday). If cloture is not invoked on the motion to proceed to S.2311, the Senate will immediately vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Stras nomination.
Tomorrow, at 1:45pm, the Senate will vote on the confirmation of Executive Calendar #552, R. D. James to be an Assistant Secretary of the Army (Army Corps of Engineers).
