NDAA Conference Report Debate Today

At approximately 10:40am today, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to consider Calendar #337, the nomination of Morgan Christen, of Alaska, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit.  There will be 30 minutes of debate on the nomination, equally divided and controlled between Senators Leahy and Grassley, or their designees.

Upon the use or yielding back of time on the Christen nomination, the Senate will resume Legislative Session and Senator McCain will be recognized for up to 30 minutes as if in morning business.

Following Senator McCain's remarks, the Senate will proceed to the consideration of the Conference Report to accompany H.R.1540, the Department of Defense Authorization bill with up to three hours of debate, equally divided between the two Leaders, or their designees.

At a time to be determined by the Majority Leader after consultation with the Republican Leader, the Senate will proceed to vote on adoption of the conference report. No motions or points of order, other than budget points of order and the applicable motions to waive, are in order to the conference report.  Upon disposition of the conference report, the Senate will proceed to the consideration of H.Con.Res.92, a concurrent resolution to correct the enrollment of H.R.1540 and the concurrent resolution will be agreed to by unanimous consent.

Senator Reid announced this series of votes is likely occur around 4:00pm today. When time for the votes on the Christen nomination and the Conference Report to accompany H.R.1540 is determined, another message will be sent.
