Senate passes short term transportation extension and confirms Feinberg nomination

Senator McConnell asked unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the immediate consideration of H.R.3819, the short term transportation extension through November 20, 2015; that the bill be read a third time and passed; and that the Senate confirm Executive Calendar #356, the nomination of Sarah Feinberg, to be Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration.

Senator Boxer asked that the request be modified so that an amendment to modify the extension of the PTC deadline to make it a one year extension to December 31, 2016, be agreed to; and the Senate then proceed to vote on passage of the bill, as amended.

Senator Thune objected to the modification.

There was no objection to Senator McConnell's original request and the Senate passed H.R.3819, transportation extension through November 20, 2015, by voice vote.

The Senate then confirmed the Feinberg nomination by voice vote.

Roll call votes this evening are unlikely.
