Post-cloture on Trade

Cloture on H.R.1314 was invoked by a vote on 61-38. There will now be up to 30 hours of post-cloture debate. Under the cloture rule, each senators is permitted to speak for up to 1 hour. If no senators are seeking recognition, the chair will put the question before the body. The question would be on passage of H.R.1314, as amended (Trade).

If we dispose of the Trade bill tonight, the cloture motion on the motion to proceed to H.R.2048, USA Freedom Act, could ripen as early as 1:00am this morning, unless an agreement can be reached.

If cloture is invoked on the motion to proceed to the USA Freedom Act, there would be up to 30 hours of debate prior to a vote on adoption of the motion to proceed and then we would vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to S.1357, 2-month FISA extension.

If cloture is not invoked on the motion to proceed to the USA Freedom Act, the Senate would immediately proceed to the cloture vote on the motion to proceed to the 2-month extension.
