Cloture filed on motion to proceed to Minimum Wage/4 votes at 5:30pm today (re: nominations)

Today Senator Reid filed cloture on the motion to proceed to Calendar #354, S.2223, the Minimum Wage Fairness Act. The cloture vote on the motion to proceed is expected to occur on Wednesday, April 30.

At 5:30pm today, there will be up to 4 roll call votes on the following items:

  1. Confirmation of Executive Calendar #574, 113th Congress, 2nd Session" href="http://democrats.senate.gov/execlookup.php?nomination=calendar+no.+574&congress=113" target="_blank">Executive Calendar #574, Michelle T. Friedland, of California, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit;
  2. Cloture on Executive Calendar #613, 113th Congress, 2nd Session" href="http://democrats.senate.gov/execlookup.php?nomination=calendar+no.+613&congress=113" target="_blank">Executive Calendar #613, David Weil, Massachusetts, to be Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division, Department of Labor;
  3. Confirmation of Weil nomination; and
(Up to 2 minutes for debate equally divided)
  1. Confirmation of Executive Calendar #648, 113th Congress, 2nd Session" href="http://democrats.senate.gov/execlookup.php?nomination=calendar+no.+648&congress=113" target="_blank">Executive Calendar #648, Katherine M. O'Regan, of New York, to be an Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

As a reminder, Senator Reid filed cloture on the following nominations before the break:

  1. Executive Calendar #585, Sheryl H. Lipman, of TN, to be U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee;
  2. Executive Calendar #586, Stanley Allen Bastian, of WA, to be U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Washington;
  3. Executive Calendar #587, Manish S. Shah, of IL, to be U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois;
  4. Executive Calendar #588, Daniel D. Crabtree, of KS, to be U.S. District Judge for the District of Kansas;
  5. Executive Calendar #589, Cynthia Ann Bashant, CA, to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of California; and
  6. Executive Calendar #590, Jon David Levy, of ME, to be U.S. District Judge for the District of Maine.

The first cloture vote in this series is expected to occur at a time to be determined tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29. If cloture is invoked on any of the district judges, there would be up to 2 hours for debate equally divided prior to a vote on confirmation of the nomination. Senators will be notified when those votes are scheduled.
