Cloture filed on Friedman nomination; Senate proceeds to S.J.Res.34

Senator McConnell filed cloture on the nomination of Executive Calendar #20, David Friedman, to be Ambassador of the United States to Israel. Unless an agreement is reached, the cloture motion will ripen one hour after the Senate convenes on Friday, March 24th.

Senator McConnell then moved to proceed to S.J.Res.34, providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Federal Communications Commission relating to "Protecting the Privacy of Customers of Broadband and Other Telecommunications Services". Under the rules, there will be up to 10 hours of debate followed by a vote on passage of the joint resolution.
