Veto Message on Keystone XL pipeline - motion to proceed to DHS is pending

The Senate has received the veto message on S.1, a bill to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, from the President of the United States. The message was considered read, printed in the Record, spread in full upon the Journal, and held at the desk. It is in order for the Senate to proceed to its consideration at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Democratic Leader but no later than Tuesday, March 3. Senators will be notified when any votes are scheduled in relation to the veto override.

The Senate continues to consider the motion to proceed to H.R.240, DHS appropriations, with senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each. As a reminder, 2 motions to reconsider the  previously failed cloture votes have been entered. Senator McConnell could move to reconsider one of those at any time. Another message will be sent when we have a clearer idea of timing of a reconsideration vote.
