Leaders Schumer And Jeffries Statement On Republican Counter To Commonsense Democratic Proposals To Rein In ICE & Stop The Violence

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) released the following statement on the Republican counterproposal:

“Republicans shared an outline of a counterproposal, which included neither details nor legislative text. The initial GOP response is both incomplete and insufficient in terms of addressing the concerns Americans have about ICE’s lawless conduct. Democrats await additional detail and text.”
