From The Kitchen Table To The Gas Pump, Leader Schumer Exposes How GOP Chaos And Corruption Are Raising Families’ Costs
ICYMI: Leader Schumer On The Skyrocketing Costs, Unchecked Chaos, And Rampant Corruption Of Donald Trump And Republicans
Washington, D.C. — Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released a new “Broken Promises” analysis revealing how Donald Trump and Republicans created a nationwide affordability crisis over the last 20 months. While they promised to cut costs, they’ve driven up prices on everything from gas to groceries, and housing to health care. Republicans’ chaos and corruption have left families paying more but getting less.
“The chaos and corruption of the last 20 months have been unlike anything this country has ever seen,” said Leader Schumer. “Thanks to Trump’s illegal war and Republicans’ tax handouts for billionaires, Americans have been forced to choose between gas or groceries, health care or child care. Trump has used and abused the Office of the Presidency to inflate his family’s net worth by over $4 billion at a time when families are struggling just to keep the lights on. Americans deserve better. Senate Democrats have fought Trump at every turn, and we’ll keep will keep fighting like hell to deliver for the families Republicans have left behind.”
While Americans have seen their bills go up by more than $4,200 since Trump came into office, he has personally made more than $2 billion off his presidency. Republicans ripped health care away from 15 million Americans, and kicked 5 million off food assistance, all to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and the biggest corporations. Republicans sided with Trump over families when they voted against ending his illegal war, and their votes have kept prices high and our troops in harm’s way. Instead of fighting for families, Republicans broke their promise to the American people and fought for Trump and his $1.8 billion vanity projects.
Senate Democrats have fought Republicans at every turn and have laid out a vision for cutting costs on housing, groceries, energy, child care, and health care.
