Schedule for State of the Union and Thursday, February 9, 2023

The Senate stands in recess until 8:20pm to convene for a joint session of Congress. The Senate will begin gathering in the Senate Chamber at 8:20pm and depart from the Senate Chamber at 8:25pm to proceed as a body to the Hall of the House. At 9:00pm, President Joe Biden will deliver the State of the Union address from the Hall of the House of Representatives in the U.S. Capitol.

 

Following the President’s address, the Senate will stand adjourned until 10:00am on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of Executive Calendar #3, DeAndrea Gist Benjamin, of South Carolina, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Fourth Circuit.

 

At approximately 11:00am, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Benjamin nomination.

 

At approximately 1:45pm, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #5, Cindy K. Chung, of Pennsylvania, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit.

 

Cloture has been filed on the following nominations:

1. Executive Calendar #5, Cindy K. Chung, of Pennsylvania, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit.

2. Executive Calendar #9, Gina R. Mendez-Miro, of Puerto Rico, to be United States District Judge for the District of Puerto Rico.
